On this page I show you a pair of fabulous old Stirrup shoes made for a lady or possibly young girl that I have posted in my Ebay Store.
Most females back then would have ridden side-saddle, so one only shoe was needed. By my having two here, this shows either a spare or someone who rode by herself and not side-saddle.
I’m told that these shoes were usually fashioned from old melted down brass cannon balls. Hard to date precisely but it is from the Spanish Colonial era around the late 18th-to early 19th century.
These stirrups are nicely engraved with ornate filigree decoration …the stirrup shoe is 9″ in length.
A really nice old Peruvian historical piece. A single one in a similar style sells on Rubylane for $225.00.
